Hey, I’m Emily. Here’s my deal.
Born in Staten Island and raised in New Jersey, I came into the world in 1995 to parents who met doing community theater. Suffice it to say, I grew up in a house where performing was very much encouraged, so much so that my first time on stage was as an infant in a long-forgotten community production of something weirdly religious. After that, I knew. Nothing. I was a baby. But once I grew up and began treading the boards at world-famous venues such as the Claypoole family Thanksgiving, Easter, Christmas Variety Shows, a 5th Grade talent show, and more, I caught the bug.
After many years of choir concerts, high school musicals, and dance classes, I flew the coop to Bard College to secure a BA in Theater and Performance. However, in the meantime, I fell in love with live comedy. I discovered Bard’s premiere (and only) comedy group, BRAD, and spent all of my free time directing, performing, and writing sketch comedy, as well as traveling with our improv team. During this time I continued to grace the stage, but also discovered my love for on-camera acting.
Once I got my mitts on my aforementioned theater degree, it was off to New York to devour every improv class the UCB Training Center (RIP) had to offer. All the while, I took a hiatus from dramatic acting, musicals, and the like and focused all of my time on comedy.
Post-pandemic, I’ve been writing for and performing with The Armory’s Sketch House Team “Road House”, doing stand-up, and publishing on parody sites such as McSweeney’s, The Broadway Beat, and The Belladonna. Now all that is left to do is honor the towering legacy that my infant self began.
